Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Powered by Red Hat

We provide managed VPS support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3. We feel it's the best distribution to balance reliability, current software, and ongoing support. This makes it ideal for our business-focused clients.

Other distributions such as Fedora get end-of-lifed every six to twelve months – Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 will have bugfixes and security updates until 2010. Unlike other VPS providers, this means the yearly event of upgrading distributions to gain timely security updates is one less thing you have to worry about.

A Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 VPS uses 113MB of disk space initially, which will grow as you upgrade or install packages of your own.

For added security we turn off all external services except SSH. With root access you're free to enable services of your choosing.

All Red Hat Enterprise Linux VPSs have access to our private yum RPM repository. This makes updating system packages a breeze. If you wish, we can configure your VPS to update itself automatically every night.

Installed Software

All the common tools you would expect are included, such as xinetd, postfix and iptables. If you need a third party application that's not pre-installed, you may install it yourself or request that we do it for you.

Important Notice

An Aktiom VPS running Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not supported by Red Hat, Inc. This includes access to the Red Hat Network. A paid contract from Red Hat, Inc. is required for commercial support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
