Acceptable Use Policy
The following outlines uses of Aktiom Networks services which are disallowed. If a dispute arises over a use which is not outlined below, Aktiom Networks will maintain every effort to find a fair solution to both Aktiom Networks and the client.
Spam/UCE (Unsolicited Commercial E-mail)
Aktiom Networks takes a zero-tolerance policy towards spam. Spam is a major problem currently affecting the Internet, and Aktiom Networks will make every effort in ensuring its services do not contribute to the problem. If service provided to a client is used for spamming purposes, whether committed purposefully by the client or unbeknownst to them, Aktiom Networks will immediately suspend said client's service. Upon further inquiry, at Aktiom Networks discretion, client's service will either be terminated or reinstated. Spam that does not originate from Aktiom Networks, but advertises a site hosted at Aktiom Networks, is subject to the same conditions above.
DoS (Denial of Service)
Clients may not launch Denial of Service attacks on another computer or network using Aktiom Networks services.
Illegal Activities
Clients may not use Aktiom Networks services to:
- engage in any activity which violates or infringes intellectual property rights (no movie/mp3 sharing);
- attempt to access without authorization computers, accounts, or networks belonging to another party, or attempting to penetrate security measures of another individual's system (no cracking/hacking);
- forge message headers, whether in whole or part, to mask the originator of the message (no spoofing);
- export encryption software over the Internet which violates United States export control laws (no export control violations);
- aid or partake in the exploitation of minors (no child pornography);
- engage in any other activities determined to be illegal, including advertising and/or transmitting pyramid schemes, fraudulently charging credit cards, and pirating software (legal activities only please).
Miscellaneous Disallowed Software
The following software may not be run on services provided by Aktiom Networks:
- clients may not run a public IRC server (private non-linked IRC servers are allowed);
- clients may not run a graphical game server such as Quake III or Counter-Strike.
